WHAT IS A DOSHA?
According to Ayurveda, each of us has a unique mix of three mind/body
principles which creates our specific mental and physical
characteristics. These three principles are called 'doshas'.
Most of us have one or two doshas which are most
lively in our nature, with the remaining one(s) less
ABOUT PITTA TYPES
The pitta dosha (ayurveda mind & body type) is made up of tejas (fire) and jala (water). The seemingly contradictory combination of fire and water to form pitta is actually complimentary. Pitta exists as water or oil in the body, thus preserving the tissues from the destructive aspect of fire.
It is pungent, hot, penetrating, greasy, oily, sharp,
liquid, spreading and sour. Its primary function is transformation. It
is the force of metabolic activity in the body associated with the
endocrine function, hormone levels, digestion, body temperature, visual
perception, hunger, thirst and skin quality. Mentally it plays a role
in understanding and in digesting sensory impressions. Again, the five
aspects of pitta determine its location in the body. It resides
in the eyes, blood, sweat glands, the small intestine, stomach and
lymph. Its primary site is in the small intestine.
Pitta accumulations may cause acidity, burning, burning diarrhoea, skin rashes, eye inflammations, irritation.
FROM "whatsyourdosha.com", A BIT MORE ABOUT PITTA TYPES:
Pitta-type people are generally of medium size
and well proportioned. They have a medium amount of
physical energy and stamina. They also tend to be
intelligent and have a sharp wit and a good ability to concentrate.
Fire is a characteristic of Pitta, whether it shows up as fiery
red hair or a short temper. Since Pittas' body temperature
is generally warm, Pitta types can go out of balance with
overexposure to the sun. Their eyes are sensitive to light.
They are ambitious by nature but also can be demanding and
Pitta types are known for their strong
digestion but should be careful not to abuse it. Their heat
makes them particularly thirsty, and they should take
caution not to douse their agni, or digestive fire, with
too much liquid during meals. Pitta dosha leads us to crave
moderation and purity. We rely on Pitta to regulate our intake of
food, water, and air. Any toxins, such as alcohol or tobacco,
show up as a Pitta imbalance. Toxic emotions such as
jealousy, intolerance, and hatred also should be avoided to
keep Pitta in balance for optimum health.

Herbs are all about.
Pukka Herbs was founded in 2001 by Sebastian Pole, an
Ayurvedic practitioner, and Tim Westwell, formerly in business
development for the IT industry. We started with a few thousand pounds
and a mutual passion for promoting well-being and providing 100%
organic Ayurvedic herbal remedies and teas.
Sebastian trained as a herbalist both in Ayurveda and
Traditional Chinese Medicine. With a degree in Hindi, he also gained
clinical training experience in India, both in clinics and hospitals,
working with indigenous Ayurvedic doctors. On his return to the UK, he
set up a practice in Bath which he still maintains today. A committed
conservationist, he started looking at ways to bring herbs to Britain
to make teas and remedies of the quality he required as a practitioner.
