Camphor, menthol, cajuput oil, clove oil, dementholized mint oil, paraffin petrolatum

I first came across Tiger Balm years ago when I was
backpacking through Singapore, and had a terribly stiff neck and
shoulders. Someone recommended Tiger Balm, a pain-relieving ointment
that was devleoped over 100 years ago from ancient Chinese herbal
formulations. When applied directly to the skin on my shoulders and
neck, I found immediate relief. I have been using Tiger Balm ever since.
Tiger Balm has a menthol-infused scent that I find very pleasant.
My husband carries one of these small tins in his shirt
pocket every day at work. He has a very physically-demanding job, and
swears by Tiger Balm for all of his aches and pains.
VERY IMPORTANT: Any substance containing camphor (many
vapor rubs and cold medicines do) should never be given to children. If
accidentally ingested, young children do not have the liver enzymes
necessary yet to break down camphor, and in large enough doses, it can
be fatal. Applied topically, there are no reported dangers to adults, or
even children, but since there is a risk that children might
taste/ingest something on their skin, it should be avoided. Also keep in
mind that many herbal remedies that are beneficial for adults can be
harmful to children. Always consult a doctor before administering herbal
remedies to young children.
That being said, rest assured that Tiger Balm has been used safely and effectively in Asia for more than a century.
From the Tiger Balm website:
Tiger Balm White is effective for headaches, stuffy nose,
stomach flatulence, insect bites, itchiness, and muscle and joint
aches. Just rub the ointment onto your skin, and its pain relieving
properties will work quickly to reduce aches, swelling, and other
discomfort that irritates the body.

This is a small, pocket-sized container of Tiger Balm.
They do have larger tins, but my husband and I love these because they
fit unobtrusively into a pocket or purse.

COMMENTS: Tiger Balm
has been trusted worldwide for nearly a century to relieve aches and
pains. They have won numerous awards for their quality products that are
safe, effective, and based on herbal formulas.
Tiger Balm, like many muscle rubs, contains camphor, which
is derived from the camphorlaurel tree, an evergreen native to Asia. In
the personal recommendation area, I give an important warning about not
administering Tiger Balm to young children as a safety precaution, that
also applies to many herbs and essential oils. Sometimes what is safe
and effective for adults can be harmful to young children when it comes
to herbal remedies, so use common sense and consult a doctor if you are
unsure.
