Minimum 55% recycled plastic content (15% post-consumer)
I finally found a trash bag that was made (at least partially) of recycled plastic. Think for a moment about all those garbage bags you throw out, day after day, and how much petroleum, water, and other resources were used to create them, and how much pollution was created in the process... all in the name of garbage disposal. Now think about how much plastic we can rescue from an eternity of just sitting in a landfill, by recycling it and turning it into trash bags. We can lessen the enormous burden on the planet our garbage is creating simply by recycling plastic resources.
The following information was taken from the Seventh Generation website:
Features and Benefits of Recycled Plastic Trash Bags
55% minimum recycled content (16% post-consumer)
Saves natural resources
Reduces pollution
If every household in the U.S. replaced just one package of 20-count drawstring tall kitchen bags made from virgin plastic with 65% recycled ones, we could save:
- 39,00 barrels of oil, enough to heat and cool 2,200 U.S. homes for a year,
- 720,000 cubic feet of landfill space, equal to 1,100 full garbage trucks,
- and avoid 15,000 tons of pollution!
