COMMENTS: Wood is a much more sustainable product than plastic, which so many soap dishes are made out of these days. Especially when the wood is sustainably-harvested! What does that mean exactly?

Our sustainably-harvested cedar comes from our own forest, as well as local trees, that have been harvested one at a time (no clear-cutting!) or were removed for reasons other than lumber.

Many Native American tribes have perfected the art of sustainably managing a forest. The key is to take a mature tree before it falls or becomes decayed. In doing so, that area where the mature tree stood opens up, receives more sunlight, and allows new, young trees to spring up and take its place. This also means that only a limited number of trees from one area will be removed, guaranteeing the continuity of the delicate forest eco-system.
