STARS: 5 out of 5 stars for naturalness COMMENTS: Hemp is an important natural resource for many, many reasons. Hemp can easily be grown without the use of pesiticides and other harmful chemicals that pollute the soil (cotton is one of the most pesticide-laden crops in the US). Additionally, it can be grown without irrigation, saving valuable water resources. Cotton produces only 4% of the world's agricultural crops, but uses up 52% of the world's agricultural inputs, accordint to Ruth Shemai, of Ruth's Hemp Foods (who can tell you all about the extraordinary benefits of eating hemp foods in a wonderful interview, here). In fact, Ms. Shamai insists that there are over 25,000 uses for hemp (and, yes, that is more than for duct tape!!). Wow!
It's time for a change away from cotton, such a damaging (but powerful) industry, to something more sustainable and eco-friendly- hemp!
Currently illegal to grow in the US, many countries, including Canada, are now producing countless hemp products that are benefiting both the planet and its citizens.
I love my exfoliating Ayate Washcloth, but it is not suitable for my face or delicate skin areas. I was so excited to find this hemp washcloth! Hemp is a valuable renewable resource that is tougher than cotton and has outstanding benefits for the planet. This washcloth is sturdy, but gentle enough to scrub my delicate face. It is also machine washable and dryable, and mildew resistant.
